60 yr old Man in serious condition after collision on Highway 404

Traffic delays were seen in Toronto on Highway 404 after a collision occurred Wednesday afternoon. According to Ontario Provincial Police Sgt Kerry Schmidt, there was a two-vehicle crash that involved a passenger car rear-ending a commercial truck on the southbound lanes near highway 7. The collision happened around 3 pm

Schmidt continues to say that the driver of the passenger car, a 60-year-old man, exited the vehicle after the collision and moved across the highway onto the northbound side, and made it to the third lane before inevitably being struck by another vehicle.

Officers were on the scene to investigate and the vehicles involved in the initial collision were moved to the side of the road.

The man was taken to a nearby trauma centre with serious injuries sustained.

Initially, both northbound and southbound lanes were closed but after 6:30 pm, Ontario Provincial Police confirmed all lanes to be reopened.

Sidhu Gets Bail in Dangerous Driving Case

Jaskirat Singh Sidhu, accused of dangerous driving after his semi-trucks collision with the team bus of Humboldt Broncos on April 6, has been given bail against a surety of $1,000. As per the bail arrangements, Sidhu had to surrender his passport and follow a curfew that restricts him to his house and prohibits him from driving.

16 people died in the horrible crash of April 6 and the fatalities included players and other members of Saskatchewan junior hockey team. 13 more suffered injuries. Sidhu was remanded into police custody on July 6 and was arrested at 10:07 AM on that day from his home. The next hearing of the case will take place on August 21.

29-year old Sidhu is facing 16 charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and 13 of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily injury. Superintendent Derek Williams, officer-in-charge of the major crimes unit, said in a statement last week about the presence of “evidence that motor vehicle was being operated in a way that was dangerous to the public.”

Sidhu reportedly works for called Adesh Deol trucking company. This company does not face any charges at the present moment. Director of the company, Sukmander Singh, came forward to say that the driver had been working for his company for around a month when this tragedy took place. Singh is the only person who was working in this trucking company which was subsequently suspended for the course of this investigation.

Toronto police last week arrested a 27-year-old Oshawa man now facing charges in a fatal hit-and-run accident.

Jesse Petroff ended the life of a 50-year-old woman, later identified by family as Isabel Soria, when his Dodge Ram pickup truck struck her around 3 p.m. on June 11 at the intersection of Dufferin Street and Briar Hill Avenue. Police said surveillance footage and still, photos confirmed the driver left his stopped vehicle and approached the victim but immediately got back into his vehicle and fled the scene. Clear photos of the vehicle released Thursday accompanying a plea for citizens to provide any relevant information about its whereabouts and driver led to an arrest later that day.

Petroff now faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, criminal negligence causing death, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.

Collisions on Highway 17 leaves Two Dead

On Tuesday, separate collisions in the Sudbury, Ont. Area, on Highway 17, claimed two lives. According to the OPP, in the morning West of Sudbury, a tractor-trailer collided with a rock cut.

It happened east of the Walden Township, claiming the life of a 33-year-old woman. She was a passenger in the transport truck. The driver of the vehicle was charged with careless driving.

Four hours later, another collision occurred. It involved an SUV and a transport truck, killing a 65-year-old woman. She was the driver of the sports utility vehicle.

The driver of the transport suffered minor injuries. The police closed the two sites for investigation of the collisions.

One Dead and two in Critical Condition due to Accident near Orangeville

A head-on collision resulted in the death of one person and two in life-threatening condition. The three were airlifted to a hospital in Orangeville. Later, the two were airlifted to Toronto, while still in critical condition.

The police will examine the black boxes of the vehicles involved in the accident, to help determine the cause of the collision.

Highway 17 Collision kills One

The Ontario Provincial Police confirmed that the collision on Highway 17, around Rutherglen Ontario, left one person dead. An SUV that was heading eastbound, crossed over the center line and collided with an oncoming pickup truck.

It was determined after the collision that the driver of the SUV was dead. Luckily, the driver of the pickup truck suffered no injuries. The accident led to the closure of the Highway for several hours.

The road was later reopened at around 6:00 pm to give the authorities ample time to carry out investigations into the cause of the collision.
